World Osteoporosis Day Awareness Event at Choithrams

Osteoporosis can affect people of any gender, but women make up the majority of cases, and over 40 million people in the US have osteoporosis or are at high risk because of low bone mass, according to the National Institutes of Health.
This World Osteoporosis Day, let us understand more about this lesser known disease.

What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones and makes them more likely to break. It literally leads to abnormally porous bone that is compressible, like a sponge.

Normal bone is composed of protein, collagen, and calcium, all of which give bone its strength. Bones that are affected by Osteoporosis can break with relatively minor injury that normally would not cause a bone to fracture.

What Causes Osteoporosis?
Prevention is better than cure. Hence, make sure you do not fall prey to Osteoporosis. Read on to know what causes it.

To  make sure we are well aware about Osteoporosis, let’s go through a few symptoms to detect it at an early stage.

To create awareness amongst our staff about the effects & causes of Osteoporosis, we at Choithrams had arranged an awareness session at our Deira Head Office by Dr Sanjeev Chaudhary, Chief Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon & Director of Chaudhary Hospital & post Graduate Institute of Orthopaedics on 28th September 2016

It was an interactive session attended by about 50 female employees from Choithrams.
